The American Chemistry Council has released the results of a survey on the inclinations of consumers to purchase items made from recycled materials.
The survey, conducted by Harris Interactive, found that nearly 49 percent of adults say they are much more or more likely to buy a product made from recycled material. Forty-seven percent say they are equally likely to choose an item made from recycled materials as they are a similar product made from non-recycled materials. Only 5 percent of adults say they are more likely or much more likely to choose a product from non-recycled materials.
Additionally, the survey found that adults between the ages of 18-34 are more likely to purchase recycled products, as are people living in the West. College-educated respondents are also more likely to buy an item made from recycled materials, as are households with an income above $75,000.
The survey also found that 83 percent of respondents think that buying recycled products for their homes make them more "green." Eighty-one percent also say they want to buy and/or wear clothing made from recycled materials.
