The United States Environmental Protection Agency is part of the U.S. federal government assigned to protect human health and the environment.  They write and enforce regulations based on laws passed by Congress.  With the use of electronic products growing over the past twenty years, the EPA has become more involved in eCycling, or the recycling of eWaste.  The EPA works to educate consumers and businesses on why it is important to reuse and recycle computers & electronics.

In January of 2006, the EPA also formed a committee that created the R2 (Responsible Recycling) Practices.  The R2 Practices are a set of guidelines for accredited certification programs to assess electronics recyclers' environmental, worker health and safety, and security practices. The certification program began in July of 2009.  In January of 2010, DMD Systems Recovery began pursuing the R2 Practices Certification.

DMD Systems Recovery's EPA license number is AZD981573926.
